Goldwin Play Earth Fund invests in JEPLAN, Inc., a company that collects and recycles PET bottles and clothing

Goldwin Play Earth Fund (hereafter “GW-PEF”), co-managed by Goldwin Venture Partners Inc. (hereafter “GVP”) and Ignition Point Venture Partners Inc. (hereafter “IGP-VP”), is pleased to announce its investment in JEPLAN, Inc. (Headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa prefecture; Representative Director/President/CEO: Masaki Takao; hereafter “JEPLAN”), which operates PET bottle and clothing collection and recycling businesses.
JEPLAN, with its mission “to circulate everything,” has been running a commercial plant for recycling used PET bottles using its proprietary chemical recycling technology called “BRING Technology™.” It chemically breaks down the feedstock PET plastics to molecules and removes impurities to turn them into reusable materials, allowing manufacture of recycled polyesters having the same quality as virgin polyesters. This circulation, manufacturing new PET bottles from used ones, can be repeated many times.
JEPLAN also uses BRING Technology™ to manufacture new polyester fibers from collected used clothing made of polyester, thus realizing the circulation concept of “Making Clothes from Clothes®.” JEPLAN has been participating in “GREEN CYCLE,” a clothing-recycling program run by Goldwin Inc. since 2009.
GVP and IGP-VP decided to make this investment in JEPLAN upon high evaluation of the advantages of the chemical recycling technology JEPLAN owns, and aim to further strengthen their partnership with the company to realize zero-waste in the apparel industry and achieve a circular society.
