Goldwin Play Earth Fund invests in Synflux Co., Ltd., a developer of a design system for zero fashion waste

Goldwin Play Earth Fund (hereafter “GW-PEF”), co-managed by Goldwin Venture Partners Inc. (hereafter “GVP”) and Ignition Point Venture Partners Inc. (hereafter “IGP-VP”), is pleased to announce its investment in Synflux Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo City, Tokyo; CEO: Kazuya Kawasaki; hereafter “Synflux”), a developer of a design system aiming for zero fashion waste.
Synflux, with its “Fashion for the Planet” mission, has developed and commercialized “Algorithmic Couture®*1,” a design system that minimizes the amount of materials inevitably wasted in the process of manufacturing clothing.
The serious environmental sustainability issues faced by the fashion industry have been drawing attention in recent years. New technologies and solutions are needed to reduce the environmental impact of the industry’s production and distribution processes.
In this market environment Synflux, with its vision “to realize a creative circulatory society through the power of digital technology,” has been implementing technologies for sustainable fashion using machine learning, 3D simulation, and algorithmic design.
GVP and IGP-VP decided to invest in Synflux upon high evaluation of the values of “fashion designs with minimal waste” and “digitization of fashion” offered by the company as well as its approach to sustainability.
On Friday, November 4, Goldwin launched SYN-GRID, a project to enable manufacturing of clothing with reduced raw materials and to explore a new production system for the fashion industry by utilizing Synflux’s proprietary technology, Algorithmic Couture.

As part of the project, THE NORTH FACE and NEUTRALWORKS. have started marketing products with reduced waste in the fabric cutting process. This SYN-GRID project will be an opportunity to propose to both companies new approaches to fashion designing to enhance their sustainability.
