Goldwin Play Earth Fund invests in Sanu Inc. for its circular, environmentally friendly second-home subscription service.

Goldwin Play Earth Fund (hereafter “GW-PEF”), co-managed by Goldwin Venture Partners Inc. (hereafter “GVP”) and Ignition Point Venture Partners Inc. (hereafter “IGP-VP”), is pleased to announce that it has made an investment in Sanu Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo City, Tokyo; CEO: Gen Fukushima; hereafter “SANU”), which offers a subscription service of environmentally friendly second homes with sound material-cycle.
SANU, with its philosophy of “Live with nature,” has developed and operated “SANU 2nd Home,” a subscription service enabling people to have a lifestyle of owning a second home in the natural environment.
In recent years, the definition of “home” has been changing due to the transformation of working styles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a growing demand for having multiple places to live and/or for living in nature. As few existing services can cater for such demand, there is a gap between needs and seeds [demand and supply] .
In this market environment, SANU has built a new form of business model — second-home subscriptions — based on their unique concept of “a lifestyle of living in the city with another home in nature.” The initial membership of SANU 2nd Home sold out instantly at its launch. The service started in November 2021. The number of customers registered on the waitlist to join the subscription was over 3600 as of July 5, 2022.
GVP and GP-VP decided to make this investment as we felt a strong affinity to SANU’s approach to sustainability, as demonstrated by their vision of “realizing a society where people and nature coexist,” and their adoption of construction methods that minimize the impact on nature. This investment is an opportunity for us to explore future collaborations with them, including the development of businesses that combine the products and services of the two companies.
